About Signal Plan

Last updated: 9 October 2026.

Signal Plan is a free predictive Wi-Fi planner that runs in your browser. You upload a floor plan, set the scale, draw walls, choose a band and a minimum signal level, and it forecasts coverage and suggests where access points should go. It covers 20 access point brands and 150 models from Wi-Fi 5 to Wi-Fi 7, including 6 GHz.

Who we are

Signal Plan is an independent project and is not affiliated with any access point manufacturer. Brand and model names belong to their owners. You can reach us at [email protected].

Why it exists

Predictive Wi-Fi design tools are often expensive or tied to one vendor. We wanted a tool that works with any brand, needs no installation or account, and keeps your floor plan on your own computer. The planner and the on-screen forecast are free.

How the site is funded

We show Google ads, we sell watermark-free exports (a single export, or a Pro subscription with extra features such as multi-floor planning), and some retailer links are affiliate links that are labelled as such. Sponsored content is always marked. Advertising never changes a forecast or the order of results.

How we treat access point data

Each model in the planner carries its Wi-Fi generation, spatial streams per band and antenna gain. We check these against the manufacturer's datasheet or spec page wherever we can. At the last review (9 October 2026) 50 of 150 models were checked against a vendor datasheet or spec page, 26 against a retailer listing that quotes the vendor, and 74 were still family-level estimates. The planner labels every model so you can see which is which, and the methodology page lists the coverage by brand.

Corrections

If you spot a wrong specification or a flaw in a guide, email us with the model or page and a source. We correct the data, update the page date, and note changes in our review log.

Limits

Forecasts are planning estimates, not guarantees. Always validate with an on-site survey and the current vendor datasheet before buying or installing equipment. See our terms and privacy policy.
